It has been a long year. 2018 was the year of Wakanda, #MeToo, Duchess Meghan Markle’s wedding, and Aretha Franklin passing (RIP) just to name a few. We’ve all experienced these moments together over group chats, with family, and on social media. There is no escape from the world whether we like it or not. The holidays are no different. Merriment, love, gifts, and resolutions are all thrust in our faces as we welcome the cold weather and the stress of the holidays. It can feel like a lot. I understand that sometimes you just want to stay under the covers and watch Netflix all day.
This year was stressful for me too. Mented had a ton of firsts. New office, new team members, a ton of huge product launches (s/o to Eyeshadow and red lipstick). It was all fun and stressful and continues to be an amazing roller-coaster that I’m happy to be on. With all of that comes hard truths. Because I dedicate myself to work, friends, and family I don’t always have time for me. I know that may sound selfish, but isn’t that the self-care mission that we’re all striving for? Balance doesn’t wholly exist, but I need some me time too.
All of this to say, don’t forget you this holiday season. Don’t forget to go see the movies that you like. Don’t forget to stop by your favorite shop. Don’t forget to spend some time on you. Below are a list of my favorite things that I’ll be spending time on this holiday season.
