Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Within the Mented community we most likely all know someone that has/had Breast Cancer and we want you to know that you’re not alone. With over 250,000 new diagnoses a year it’s important for us to empower our community on how to get checked and we encourage you to share as well. According to The American Cancer Society, the recommended age for women at average risk (as in it doesn’t run in your family) for breast cancer should get yearly mammograms starting at age 45, then every other year starting at age 55. The organization also suggests women could choose to have mammograms as early as 40 (source). We recommend performing the self-examination method to everyone (regardless of gender) on a regular basis. This month lets share our knowledge with loved ones and help address this serious disease head-on with prevention and compassion.
